Mikkelsen denies rumors on joining M-Sport Ford in 2023

Andreas Mikkelsen says that his plans for next season are still unknown, but he admits that he will not drive at the top level in 2023 while he hopes to continue competing in WRC2 class.

The Norwegian driver has taken part in WRC2 category for three seasons after losing his WRC seat at Hyundai and ever since is driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2. He became WRC2 Champion in 2021, but he lost his chance to secure his second title in a row in this class as his teammate Emil Lindholm had a better season than him. Since Ott Tanak announced his departure from Hyundai Motorsport at the end of 2022, it was rumored that Mikkensen will return to the Alzenau-based team with a full-season programme. This did not happen as Esapekka Lappi, Dani Sordo and Craig Breen were announced as Thierry Neuville's teammates for 2023, so the rumors of Mikkelsen returning to WRC action were now focused on M-Sport Ford. As much as the British team delayed deciding after Tanak's deal with them for next year, so the rumors were growing for Mikkelsen. But eventually, Pierre-Louis Loubet secured a drive with the second Puma Rally1 while Jourdan Serderidis will compete only in four rallies. Last but not least, Sebastien Loeb and Gus Greensmith are officially out of the squad due to budget issues.

"At the moment I do not have anything fixed for 2023", Mikkelsen said.

"I think that a Rally1 drive is not possible.

"I hope to drive in WRC2 again, or at least for some rallies.

"But for who I will drive for, I am not sure yet".
