Rally Sweden - 1st Day: Rovanpera goes fastest in Umea, Tanak second



At the of the first day, Kalle Rovanpera is leading Rally Sweden with Ott Tanak and Elfyn Evans following him.

Kalle Rovanpera sets an early pace on the winter rally of the season as he was the fastest driver on this superspecial stage.

Ott Tanak is in second place overall and his gap from the leader Rovanpera is at 1,6 seconds.

Elfyn Evans completes the 1-3 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT and his Yaris had a light damage to the rear bumper after SS1.

Esapekka Lappi is fourth overall and is currently the top driver for Hyundai Motorsport despite a stall he had under braking in Stage 1. His margin from his former teammate is only at eight tenths of a second as the Finn is very familiar with the snowy conditions. 

Thierry Neuville completes the top five and left Takamoto Katsuta behind for six tenths of a second.

Craig Breen is in seventh place overall in his first rally with the i20N Rally1, but he is being confident that he will find pace to fight for the top positions as Rally Sweden is one of his favorite races.

Pierre-Louis Loubet follows the Hyundai driver for 4,1 seconds and was very careful in SS1.

Lorenzo Bertelli is outside the top ten in his first rally with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1. The Italian driver was driving a Ford car in WRC for many years and this is the first event in which he rented a car from a different brand.
