Greensmith's test for Mexico was complicated due to snow conditions

Gus Greensmith says that his chance to test his new car ahead of Rally Mexico did not go as he expected, but he believes that it was a good learning process for him.

The British driver secured a WRC2 campaign with Skoda Motorsport and Toksport for this season as he will rent the brand-new Fabia RS Rally2 after M-Sport Ford decided not to continue with him after an eight-year partnership. His programme will start from Rally Mexico in two weeks while it is still unknown in which races he will take part. He competed in Rali Vieira do Minho last weekend with the intention of getting more comfortable with his new car on gravel before he starts his WRC2 campaign, but he did not expect to snow in Portugal, therefore he is now looking forward to his two-day test which will be held in Mexico.

"The rally for sure was not as similar conditions as we'd hoped", Greensmith said.

"I spent the morning being a snow plough, but in the afternoon it was just wet.

"Anyway - we got to do some running and some learning, and the car is feeling good, so I'm happy in that respect.

"We've got two more days of testing lined up in Mexico, and then we'll be ready to start the rally".
