Rovanpera satisfied with the points from the 4th place in Mexico

Kalle Rovanpera is being satisfied that he finished in fourth place overall and scored some decint points for the championship considering his his road position in Mexico while he hoped to take some points from Powerstage.

The reigning WRC Champion started second on the road on the second day of Rally Mexico, but he had to clean the road for the following drivers due to the fact that Ott Tanak faced some problems with the turbo and had to drive slowly on Friday morning. He gained two places after Dani Sordo's puncture and Esapekka Lappi's retirement on Friday and Saturday respectively. However, he faced some issues with his Yaris as he lost the hybrid power in Stage 5 while he dropped time in SS17 due to the fact that he had a spin in a narrow place and had to reverse many times. Last but not least, he did a mistake on a Sunday stage resulting in damaging the rear wing and eventually losing downforce. The downforce loss meant that he could not push to the limit, as his car was not so stable, and this was the reason why he able to be the fourth fastest driver in Powerstage.

"It has not been an easy weekend for us", Rovanpera said.

"We lost out on Friday when we were kind of opening the road and then we were a bit behind in the fight for the rest of the weekend.

"I was hoping we could get some more points from the Power Stage; we were pushing really hard and tried everything we could but we lost the rear wing going wide in one corner and after that I couldn’t really push so much without that downforce.

"But to finish fourth overall from our starting position gives us some decent points".
