Evans will not score manufacturers' points in Croatia as Toyota confirmed

Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT announced today that Elfyn Evans will score points only for the drivers' championship at Rally Croatia as the team wants to show respect to the sudden loss of Craig Breen.

Ott Tanak and Pierre-Louis Loubet are the only two drivers that M-Sport Ford has announced for this season, therefore only they score points for the manufacturers' championship. On the other hand, Hyundai Motorsport and Toyota have three nominated drivers t defend their manufacturer title in World Rally Championship. Since Craig Breen lost his life in a testing accident a week before the start of Rally Croatia, the Alzenau-based team wanted to honor him by not bringing Dani Sordo to fulfil his seat at the third i20N meaning that only Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi will offer points to Hyundai on this tarmac event. The Japanese team chose Kalle Rovanpera and Sebastien Ogier as its nominated drivers for the fourth WRC round of the season with the intention of showing respect to their rival team after Breen's death, thus Evans will score points only for the drivers' championship this weekend.

"As a mark of solidarity, teams have agreed that only two crews will be nominated as eligible for manufacturers’ points on this rally", Toyota statement wrote.

"Our nominated crews will be #17 and #69, with #33 and #18 eligible for drivers’ points as usual".
