Rovanpera expects one of the trickiest challenges in Sardinia

Kalle Rovanpera says that Rally Italia Sardegna will be one of his trickiest events so far considering his road position and his winning mission will depend on the weather conditions.

The Finn driver became the new championship leader at the end of Rally de Portugal after claiming his first win of the season earlier this month and returned to the highest place of the podium after seven months. He is heading to Rally Italia Sardegna with a 17-point gap over the second Ott Tanak. The competition will be very high this weekend as Sebastien Ogier will do his fourth outing of the season with the third Yaris this weekend while Hyundai drivers have many chances to win at the Mediterranean island as the i20N is very strong on the tough gravel conditions and totally the team has won five times the recent years.

"Portugal was a great weekend for us and it was nice to get a victory again", Rovanpera said.

"We will try to continue like this in the next events but we know that Sardinia will be a much more difficult job.

"Of all the rallies in the calendar, I think this one has maybe been the trickiest for me, and if the weather is dry and hot like it usually is in Sardinia, it can be very difficult to be the first car on the road there; perhaps even more so this year with the 50-kilometre stage to be driven on Friday.

"It will be a demanding weekend but, like always, we will push together with the team to get the best result that we can".
