Tanak optimistic with Puma's suspension upgrades for Sardinia

Ott Tanak feels confident that the updates that M-Sport Ford brought to the Puma's suspension will work out at Rally Italia Sardegna saying the behavior of his car was better during his test.

The 2019 WRC Champion has said many times during this season that there are many areas that M-Sport Ford must improve on Puma with the view of becoming more competitive. In addition to that, Richard Millener agreed with his driver and had stated that his team is working very hard to close the gap with their rivals for the remaining of 2023, therefore some updates to the suspension are being introduced in Sardinia for this week.

Ott Tanak is aiming to get his second victory of the season at the sixth WRC round this weekend and to get closer to the championship leader Kalle Rovanpera as their gap is at 17 points after Rally de Portugal, but his job will be difficult due to the fact that he will start second on the road on Friday. Nevertheless, the weather conditions may play a crucial role as the forecast shows a potential rain for the next days which means that the leading duo may not have a disadvantage on the stages.

"I really needed this test", Tanak said.

"Reiger brought some updates and it worked quite okay.

"We have made some steps since Mexico but in Portugal, the biggest struggle was with suspension and they have come up with some new solutions, so we have definitely made the first step and it felt better in the test.

"It is a bit early to say if we are completely there. We have definitely improved".
