Rally Finland - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Evans pulls clear as Katsuta/Suninen fight tightens

At the end of Saturday, Elfyn Evans is still leading Rally Finland with Thierry Neuville and Takamoto Katsuta following him.

Elfyn Evans remains out in front and was the fastest driver in the first three stages of this afternoon loop resulting in extending his advantage over the second Thierry Neuville.

The Belgian driver could not match Evans's times on the afternoon stages and is aware how difficult is to fight for the win of Rally Finland. He dropped some seconds in Stage 16 as he thought that he had a puncture.

Takamoto Katsuta retook the third place from Teemu Suninen at the end of Stage 15 with their gap being at 0,8 seconds. However, Suninen managed to keep Katsuta behind on the next two stages, but the last one had a spectacular run throughtout Stage 18 by setting the fastest time there and moved ahead the Hyundai driver. Their smallest gap was 0,1 seconds at the end of SS17. Finally, it must be mentioned that Katsuta reported a strange feeling coming from the engine in Stage 16, but it did not affect his pace.

Suninen dropped one place and is now fourth overall as he lost some seconds in SS18 due to the fact that there was water on the ruts. He is 6,4 seconds behind Katsuta at the end of Saturday.

Jari-Matti Latvala completes the top five on his debut with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1.

Pierre-Louis Loubet is still outside the top ten after his retirement on Friday.
