According to Finnish TV, Esapekka Lappi did not test with his Hyundai i20N Rally1 for Central European Rally as his team wants him to test the durability of the car on gravel.
Teemu Suninen and Thierry Neuville had the chance to test their car for Central European Rally which was held last week. Hyundai did not schedule a pre-event test for Lappi for the penultimate round of this year's championship as the team wants him to drive the i20N on French gravel later this year with the view of testing the propshaft durability. Lappi's i20N suffered from propshaft issues three times during Safari Rally of Kenya five months ago where Cyril Abiteboul said that this problem was caused by EP's driving style. As the championship will come to an end with Rally Japan in two weeks, Hyundai is already preparing for the next season as the Koreans want to close their gap from Toyota and to make a more competitive and reliable car.
Rally Japan will be held on November 16-19 and will host the final round of this season's championship.
