Toyota is at the final stretch with Rally2 preparations for the 2024 debut [+video]

Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT started the final testing phase of GR Yaris Rally2 today as the team is trying to get well-prepared for the new season.

The Japanese team posted two photos from the GR Yaris Rally2 concept car earlier today while Stephane Lefebvre spent the day testing it in Alps with the intention of his giving feedback to the mechanics for the next year's Rallye Monte Carlo. Lefebvre and his co-driver, Aldy Malfoy, faced snow conditions in the stages today and tried to develop further the car before its official debut in WC2 class in one month. However, Toyota revealed that the GR Yaris Rally2 Demo car will run as ‘zero car’ at Rallye du Dévoluy which will be held this weekend. Moreover, two Japanese drivers from Toyota's TGR Rally Challenge programme will drive this car in European rallies next year, but it remains a question mark which other driver will get the chance to drive it in WRC2 class in 2024. Finally, it must be mentioned that Toyota is planning to produce many Rally2 cars until the end of 2023 as the Jari-Matti Latvala's team wants to have them at privateers' disposal throughout until next June.
