Ott Tanak gained four positions on Friday afternoon and is leading Rally Chile at the end of the opening day. He climbed from fifth to second at the end of Stage 4 and stole Evans's lead at the end of Stage 5 with their gap being at 2,5 seconds.
Elfyn Evans lost the lead and is now second overall, but he managed to take some seconds back in Stage 6 and is just fourth tenths of a second behind the Hyundai driver.
Kalle Rovanpera does the 2-3 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT and had a spin in a lop speed corner in Stage 4 resulting in having to reverse in order to keep going.
Sami Pajari lost one position and is now fourth overall, but he managed to keep Gregoire Munster behind for 1,4 seconds.
The driver from Louxemburg remains the top M-Sport driver, but he completed Stage 6 with a tyre damage.
Thierry Neuville is in sixth place and will have a better road position for tomorrow, but he was struggling to find the right set-up for his car.
Esapekka Lappi follows his teammate for 5,8 seconds and had a tyre delamination on the rear right when he completed Stage 4.
Adrien Fourmaux and Sebastien Ogier are eighth and ninth respectively.
Fourmaux managed to take his first stage win of Rally Chile by setting the fastest time in SS6 despite the fact that he received 10-second time penalty for starting one minute late in SS5. In fact, he had to fix the alternator of his Puma and accidentally damaged the pipe, thus he had a message on his dashboard about water temperature during SS5.
Ogier confirmed that he had no hybrid power at the end of Stage 6, but he was the fastest driver on the first two stages of Friday afternoon.
