Sebastien Ogier explains the incident he had in Stage 3 of Rally Chile saying that a wrong pacenote led him to hit a bank, but he is happy with the pace he showed on Friday.
The Frenchman was leading Rally Chile until the end of Stage 2, but he dropped to ouside the top ten at the end of Stage 3 when he hit a bank with the rear of his Yaris resulting in having a puncture. He and Vincent Landais stopped to change the wheel and managed to complete Friday morning in Chile, but they lost their lead and perhaps their chances to fight for the championship. However, they took three stage wins yesterday while Friday included six stages. Finally, he was able to take some positions back and now is in ninth place before the start of the penultimate day of Rally Chile with ten stages remaining until the end of this event.
"It’s been a day of what could have been for us", Ogier said.
"Once again the speed was there, but this one mistake in the third stage this morning probably ruined our chances for a top result this weekend.
"It was a mistake in my pacenotes, with a corner that tightened more than I thought, and we hit the bank on the outside which gave us a puncture at the rear.
"Otherwise it has been fun in the car on these nice roads and this afternoon we tried to enjoy it.
"Tomorrow could be very tough for us running near the front of the road, but like always we will keep fighting".
