Martins Sesks says that he faced many new challenges everyday at Rally Chile last week, but he believes that it is better for him to cope with them now rather than in the future.
Sesks finished outside the top ten at Rally Chile after the two successful outings he had earlier this year. He drove the non-hybrid Puma last week, but his rally did not start well as he was forced to retire on the road section after the final Friday stage due to a double puncture and was not able to return back to the service park. In Stage 13, he had a spin and stalled the engine of his Puma while he lost the rear wing towards the end of Stage 15 which means that he had to drive with less downforce in Powerstage. However, Richard Millener said before the start of Rally Chile that M-Sport Ford had high expectations from him as they wanted him to get a top-five finish, but it is uncertain if he will make another outing with the Malcolm Wilson's team until the end of the season. His name is not included at the entry list of Central European Rally while he has participated in three gravel rallies in 2024, thus he has not been tested at tarmac.
"First of all I think it was really challenging to be here in Chile for the first time", Sesks said.
"Our first two Rally1 outings were quite smooth really from our side.
"But here we found many new challenges, and everyday was different.
"We caught a double puncture on Friday unfortunately, and since Saturday it was just about keeping it safe and learning as much as we can.
"Some new experience for us, especially with losing the aero on Sunday.
"I think it’s better to have these challenges now, when we’re not really fighting for anything.
"It’s better to know how to cope with it now than in the future when there’s more at stake".
