Rovanpera: Islas Canarias win is one of my best wins so far

Kalle Rovanpera believes that his win in Islas Canarias is one of his best wins so far in his WRC career and is being grateful to Toyota for the fast car that the team gave to him.

The Finn driver claimed a masterclass victory at Rally Islas Canarias a day ago as he was the fastest driver in twelve from 18 stages and collected 35 points in total. Furthermore, he topped the SuperSunday standings and set the fastest time in Powerstage while his teammates could not respond to his speed throughout the weekend. However, he faced a downshift issue with his Yaris in Stage 7 and suffered from an intercom problem in Stage 10, but nothing could stop him from taking stage wins. At the end of the fourth WRC round, Rovanpera managed to decrease his gap from the first Elfyn Evans on the championship, but still the margin is quite big.

"It’s been a super weekend for us and also the whole team", Rovanpera said.

"To get a 1-2-3-4 result like this again is quite amazing.

"We have just been enjoying the driving.

"The car has been super fast, so a big thanks to the whole team for preparing it so well.

"Jonne has also been doing a great job and we drove well so it’s probably one of my best wins so far.

"It’s not so often on this level when you can be so consistently fast through the whole weekend.

"To get maximum points was our goal today and we really needed that.

"It’s still a big gap to Elfyn but at least we are now a step closer and we keep working".
