Neuville worried of Hyundai's current situation

Thierry Neuville is concerned of Hyundai's current situation at this year's championship saying that he could nothing more at Rally Chile.

The Belgian driver finished in fourth position overall at Rally Chile and is 58 points behind the new championship leader Sebastien Ogier. He was holding the second position from Stage 6 to 7, but afterwards he dropped to third at the end of Stage 8. At the end of Stage 9, he lost one more place over his teammate Adrien Fourmaux who climbed to third. During last weekend, the 2024 WRC Champion was struggling to find pace with his i20N and changed many settings to his set-up. However, he was not the only who was struggling with the i20N as Fourmaux could not find pace with his i20N either. On the other hand, Ott Tanak was the only Hyundai driver who managed to take a stage win at Rally Chile. With three rounds remaining until the end of this season, Hyundai is 125 points behind Toyota which has won ten events so far this season.

"I felt like I did pretty much everything I could do, honestly", Neuville said.

"I couldn't find anything more.

"I tried several settings.

"I think I pushed quite well in some places, but obviously the times were not coming.

"I don't know what more to say.

"If we would know where the difference is, I think we would have done something since a while.
"I don't know.
"They are just stronger.
"It's definitely worrying.
"It's not frustrating anymore - it's worrying.
"We need to dig deeper, for sure, but we are trying.
"We don't seem to find a way.
"When we compare to Formula 1, it's very similar.
"We have seen a team on a high for years, before another team was able suddenly to find the speed.
"And on weekends like this, I always think about all those Formula 1 drivers who are in the car, which is five tenths slower per lap.
"This weekend, for sure, I was part of those who live a lot of frustrating weekends.
"The gap to Ogier is, what, 58 points or so.
"We know pretty much that the chances are decreasing by every rally.
"And if we don't have more speed than we had in Gran Canaria on Tarmac, the chances are very small".
