Evans receives a time penalty for moving a part of a chicane in SS1

The stewards of Central European Rally gave to Elfyn Evans a five-second time penalty for moving a part of the chicane in Stage 1.

Central European Rally officially started today with the two passes from one stage ("Golf und Therme"). Evans started second on the road in Stage 1, but he lost time when he hit a bale resulting in moving it from its defined position. For this reason, Evans has been given a five-second time penalty which means that he slips behind Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville on the overall classification and is now eighth. He explained that he experienced unexpected understeer due to a lower level of grip than anticipated. He applied full steering lock in an attempt to follow the correct route and avoid contact with the chicane, significantly reducing his speed in the process. He confirmed that the incident was entirely unintentional, noting that he lost time as a result and even risked damaging the car.
