The Frenchman was fighting with Martins Sesks, Sami Pajari and Ott Tanak for the lead of Rally Saudi Arabia and managed to take back the first place from Sesks at the end of Stage 14 despite the fact that both of them suffered from a puncture there. Fourmaux was leading Rally Saudi Arabia for 2,4 seconds after Stage 14 while Thierry Neuville was third and behind his teammate for 5,8 seconds. However, Fourmaux checked ealier at the stop control, thus the stewards gave to him a one-minute time penalty for breaking the rules.
