RMC Motorsport has officially become the second constructor to confirm its entry into the World Rally Championship for 2027, marking another significant step toward the sport’s new era. The Spanish outfit is developing an all-new Rally1 car as part of the upcoming regulations, reinforcing the growing interest in the championship’s future direction.
The project, known as WRT Rally1 Spain by RMC-RFEDA, is the result of a collaboration between RMC Motorsport and the Real Federación Española de Automovilismo (RFEDA), the governing body of Spanish motorsport. This partnership is particularly noteworthy, as it represents the first time an FIA member club has actively supported and backed a WRC entry at this level.
RMC’s confirmation follows the earlier announcement of Project Rally One, a venture led by former FIA rally director Yves Matton and designer Lionel Hansen. With these two new projects now in development, alongside Toyota’s plans for a brand-new car, the 2027 season is already shaping up to feature at least three different Rally1 machines on the grid.
The Spanish team brings valuable experience to the project, having built a strong reputation through the design and development of N5 rally cars in recent years. This technical background provides a solid foundation as RMC steps up to the highest level of rallying.
Overall, the entry of RMC Motorsport not only strengthens the WRC’s future grid but also highlights the impact of the new regulations, which are successfully attracting new constructors and fostering greater diversity within the championship.
