At the end of Friday afternoon, Sebastien Ogier now tops the overall classification of Rally Portugal with Thierry Neuville and Sami Pajari following him.
Sebastien Ogier grabbed the rally lead in Portugal at the end of Stage 8 by setting the fastest time on the first three stages of Friday afternoon and taking advantage over Adrien Fourmaux's mistake.
Thierry Neuville is second overall and will fight with Ogier for the lead of the rally as the Belgian is just 3,7 seconds behind his rival.
Sami Pajari dropped from second to fifth overall at the end of Stage 7 and had a stal in one hairpin of Stage 8, but he managed to gain two positions in Stage 8 which means that he does the 1-3 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT.
Oliver Solberg moved up to fourth position overall and had a off-road moment in Stage 8 as he hit a bedrock which had as a result to fly his Yaris into the field. Despite this incident, he was able to retain his place on the overall classification and not to damage his car. It must be mentioned that he is only 1,2 seconds behind Pajari which means that both of them will fight for the top three on Saturday.
Elfyn Evans is fifth overall despite his road position today and had to slow down in Stage 7 as a tow truck was in the middle of the road.
Adrien Fourmaux lost the lead of Rally Portugal in Stage 8 as he had a off-road excursion on the same place as Solberg. This had as a result to drop from first to sixth overall as he suffered from two punctures on the right.
Takamoto Katsuta still remains seventh overall and stayed out of trouble on Friday afternoon.
Dani Sordo and Josh McErlean complete the top 9 with the last one taking a 50-second time penalty for checking five minutes late at TC.
Martins Sesks and Jon Armstrong are outside the top ten.
Sesks was the third fastest-driver in Stage 9 and was ninth overall after SS9, but he dropped more than four minutes in Stage 10 as he had two punctures on the front.
Armstrong dropped from tenth to outside the top 10 as he had power steering issues since Stage 7.
