Latvala supports Katsuta over his crash at Ypres Rally Belgium

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, backs Takamoto Katsuta for his crash in Belgium admitting that the last one did nothing wrong.

The Japanese driver had a massive crash in SS10 as he slided wide with the rear of his Yaris after a right corner.

After that slide, he had a contact with some bushes and after that incident his car started rolling and eventually it landed into a ditch.

His Yaris was heavily damaged mainly in the rollacages and in the chassis with the mechanics of Toyota having not been able to fix it for the last day of the event.

"What happened in Ypres was Taka’s second difficult result in a row", said Latvala.

"He did nothing wrong in Estonia and we have seen in the past that it’s possible for the co-driver to get injured like this.

"This was the first mistake of Taka’s season, so I say to him that every driver will make – at least – two mistakes in every season and this is not something to think about.

"It was an example of a small mistake being penalised very hard.

"It was more a problem of the line – he was just a little bit too much to the right going over a bump.

"He didn’t deserve this.

"It wasn’t a crash because of too much speed".
