Suninen to follow Hyundai's instructions at Rally Monza

Teemu Suninen says that he will do what Hyundai wants him to do in the final round of this year's World Rally Championship and he is of the opinion that it is his chance to prove what he is capable to do in a tarmac event with a WRCar.

The Finn driver received a late call from Hyundai Motorsport to compete in WRC season finale in Monza with the i20 Coupe WRC as a replacement of Ott Tanak who is forced to skip this event due to personal family matters.

Rally Monza will be Suninen's first appearance in WRC after his split with M-Sport Ford last August and he will drive the Hyundai Rally1 car for the first time there.

It must be mentioned that Suninen completed his tests with i20 in Italy one week ago and he felt immediately comfortable inside this car while he revealed that car settings were adjusted by the regular drivers of Hyundai, Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville.

"I will listen to the boss", Suninen said.

"I am very, very happy to be in this car in Monza, so I will do what they want me to do. If they want me to drive to be pushing and making a challenge to the top cars then I will try to do that, try to challenge for the higher positions.

"Or if they want me to come to the finish as the third Hyundai to be there in case they are needing the points, then I can do this also.

"It would be nice to show what I can do on Tarmac.

"I like these kind of rallies and I have good speed for them, but I have to remember I am learning a new car.

"When I drove the i20 WRC on the test, immediately I got a good feeling with it.

"But when the rally is coming, we can see different weather.

"Last year the weather was wet with the snow and the rain.

"This year I’m hoping it will be dry conditions – that’s easier for learning the most".
