Alpine eyes on a WRC return in the future

The CEO of Renault Groupe, Luca De Meo, reveals that there is a possibility for Alpine to return in World Rally Championship with an electric car.

Alpine has written history in WRC as it was the first brand which won the manufacturer's title in 1973 when the World Rally Championship was founded.

In addition, Alpine A110 and A130 were two of the most iconic cars in 1960s and in 1970s while it is tipped that Alpine A5 will be the potential contender if the French brand decides to be involved in World Rally Championship in the future.

Finally, it must be mentioned that Alpine brand is participating in Formula 1 championship since last year after Renault decided to leave from Formula1 at the end of 2020 and to give its place to its sister brand, Alpine.

"I am interested in exploring, it remains to be seen if we can find the right conditions to participate in the World Rally Championship, but I want to do it with an electric car, which is not possible nowadays", De Meo said to the french media.

"And I also want to do the Dakar".
