Too early in the season to judge everyone's strength, according to Evans

Elfyn Evans is of the opinion that every WRC team has yet to show its strength in 2022 as it is early days in the season while he believes that Toyota may not have an advantage in Estonia and Finland.

According to Tom Fowler, the technical director of Toyota, the team has focused on the reliability side of the new GR Yaris Rally1 instead of the performance while it must be mentioned that Toyota has been very successful in Estonia and Finland in the recent as the factory base is located in Jyvaskyla which means that its drivers have tested the Yaris WRC and the hybrid Yaris on fast gravel roads.

Moreover, Rally Estonia will be the first WRC event which will include very fast sections, therefore this event will consider which Rally1 car is the fastest.

"It’s early days in the season", Evans said.

"It’s the first fast rally we’re doing now with Estonia and Finland back to back.

"It’s really hard to gauge again, it’s obviously a new season, new cars, we’re yet to see everybody’s strengths I feel.

"You know, the other teams have shown great speed throughout the year.

"So you can take nothing for granted.

"And we still have a big job on our hands to continue the way we have".
