Rally Finland - 3rd Day - 1st Loop: Dominant Evans protects his lead, Suninen up to 3rd

At the end of Saturday morning, Elfyn Evans remains out in front at Rally Finland with Thierry Neuville and Teemu Suninen following him.

Elfyn Evans extended his advantage over the second Thierry Neuville by setting the fastest time in all morning stages of Saturday.

The morning loop for Neuville was difficult as he was fighting with the grig and could not stay in the line in SS11 while he had a lot of wheel spin in SS13. His gap from the leader Evans was increased from 6,9 to 17,7 seconds.

Teemu Suninen completes the 2-3 for Hyundai Motorsport and was struggling with the rear of his i20N as he mentioned at the end of Stage 12.

Takamoto Katsuta slipped behind the Hyundai driver at the end of SS12 for 2,2 seconds as he lost the line resulting in spinning. He had to reverse to get going again, therefore he lost 21,5 seconds there. Finally, he was a little confused in some point of Stage 11 as he missed some pacenote information and had to ask Aaron Johnston.

Jari-Matti Latvala is still in fifth place overall as he does not threat anyone nor his position is under threaten. However, Juho Hanninen was angry with him in Stage 12 as JML touched a rock in the first or second corner.

Pierre-Louis Loubet is outside the top ten and was the only driver from the other three who managed to restart under the regulations of Super Rally on Saturday.

Esapekka Lappi was not able to continue for the rest of his home event as Hyundai confirmed yesterday, because his i20N was heavily damaged to the front following his crash in Stage 5.

Kalle Rovanpera is also out of Rally Finland as there was extensive rollcage damage to his Yaris after his roll in Stage 8.
