Elfyn Evans says that his first test of the season with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 was difficult due to the demanding conditions, but admits that the feeling is getting better all of the time.
The Welshman lost his chance to test the Toyota Rally1 car a month ago as he had a bike accident from which he injured his ribs and had to be absent from FIA's prize giving in Baku on December 8. However, he was the last from his Toyota teammates, Takamoto Katsuta and Sebastien Ogier, who tested the GR Yaris Rally1 in Alps as his test completed on Friday 12 January. Hyundai and Toyota have already finished with their test ahead of Rallye Monte Carlo as M-Sport Ford will start its testing programme today and it will last two days.
The season opener in Monte Carlo is about to start in eleven days with the Shakedown session while the real action begins on Thursday with two night stages.
"The feeling is getting better all of the time", Evans said.
"It was not the ideal off-season but nonetheless we are over the worst of it now and the feeling in the car is fine, so that is the important thing and that will be the last we need to hear about it now.
"We started with some pretty difficult conditions already with some black ice to start my test.
"It is never nice when it is like that, and it is very difficult to judge the speed, but that is what this rally is all about.
"You have to adapt and try to read the conditions.
"It is good practice at least and of course the rally is back up north in Gap, so we are more likely to see wintry conditions this year and it is going to be part of the challenge".
