Official: Hyundai and Akrapovič join forces for 2024 WRC season

Hyundai Motorsport announced a new partnership ahead of 2024 WRC season as the Koreans have reached an agreement with Akrapovič.

The Alzenau-based team is trying to improve the reliability and the performance of the 2024-spec i20N Rally1 by signing a contract with Akrapovič which is a manufacturer of exhaust solutions for motorcycles and premium cars and has gained international prominence through its successful support of teams in topflight motorsport. With solutions that are renowned for increasing performance, innovative design, lightweight construction and durability, Akrapovič will be a key partner in the continued development of Hyundai Motorsport’s WRC challenger. However, it remains unknown what changes the Hyundai mechanics have made to the i20N Rally1 for this season, but the Cyril Abiteboul's team has secured two key deals ahead of 2024 which are with Akrapovič and Alpinestars.

"We are excited to embark on this new partnership with Akrapovič, which we have been pursuing for some time", the Hyundai's technical director, Francois-Xavier Demaison, said.

"Our collaboration is pushing the boundaries in critical areas, such as exhaust systems and thermal management.

"As a result, we have brought innovative solutions into the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid for the 2024 season, boosting its reliability and performance.

"Akrapovič’s race-proven materials, insulation, and technical know-how made them the natural choice of partner as we continue our drive to improve our WRC challenger".
