Neuville: If Tanak leaves, Hyundai will be weaker

Thierry Neuville is worried of Hyundai's future as he believes that his team will be weaker if Ott Tanak decides to leave at the end of 2025.

Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT is tipped to announce its driver line-up for 2026 on November 10, one day just after the end of Rally Japan which will be held this weekend. It is rumored that Ott Tanak may leave Hyundai at the end of this season and may return back to Toyota after six years as he had won his WRC title with the Japanese team. The door is open at Toyota after Kalle Rovanpera's announcement that he will retire from World Rally Championship at the end of this year in order to chase his dream at track racing. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that it is rumored that Oliver Solberg may join Toyota as well as the young Sweden has impressed us with his performance in WRC2 class and with his WRC win at Rally Estonia.

"I don’t know if it really worries me", Neuville said.

"I’m thinking about the team and about myself.

"I want a competitive car for next year and to get back the right feeling.

"If Tänak leaves, we’ll be weaker, but if we have a competitive car, we can still achieve good results.

"I really hope he stays with the team".
