Snowfall forces Hyundai to postpone Neuville's test ahead of Monte Carlo

Hyundai has been forced to postpone Thierry Neuville’s scheduled test, which was originally set to take place on January 8.

Both Toyota and Hyundai have stepped up their preparations for the Rallye Monte Carlo, which gets underway in just 13 days. On Wednesday, Adrien Fourmaux carried out a test with the Hyundai i20 N Rally1, while his teammate Thierry Neuville was behind the wheel of the i20 N Rally2 yesterday, focusing on familiarising himself with the new Hankook tyres. Neuville was due to return to the i20 N Rally1 today, but the test had to be cancelled due to heavy snowfall, which made running conditions impossible. In response, the Korean manufacturer has submitted a request to the FIA to reschedule Neuville’s Rally1 test for Saturday. Meanwhile, Hayden Paddon is expected to test the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 on Friday, as the team continues its intensive build-up to the opening round of the 2026 WRC season.

"We have winter conditions – one might think that’s good because these are the conditions we hope to have for the rally, but the past proves it’s a long time since we’ve had these conditions so it’s not the conditions optimal for us today or that we were looking for either", Neuville said.

"Unfortunately not the day we were hoping for, but we’ll test again by the end of the week and I hope to do the necessary work we planned to do to with more stable conditions to be able to really compare the evolutions that we wanted to try".
