Lancia does not think of building a WRC27 car when the new regulations will be introduced in 2027 and will stay committed to its Rally2 programme.
Lancia announced earlier this week the engine specifications of the Ypsilon HF Integrale Rally2 car. Apart from that, the car brand also announced that they will take part in eight WRC rounds next year starting with Rallye Monte Carlo and will have two drivers. PH Sport is set to lead Lancia's project and to switch from a Citroen C3 Rally to Lancia Ypsilon HF Integrale Rally2 for the 2026 WRC season. It is speculated that one of its drivers will be Yohan Rossel and the team will confirm its driver line-up next month before Christmas.
"For us, we did the Rally2 now, so we will still stay in the Rally2 category", said the Lancia Corse director, Eugenio Franzetti.
"If the Rally2 category will have the opportunity to race for the victory overall, OK.
"If not, we will stay in Rally2.
"Honestly, it’s super complicated to have to do an investment after this one to do the new rally car.
"It’s too early to say, but the idea is to wait for that.
"So, we did a Rally2, we want to stay in the Rally2 category.
"If the Rally2 category will compete for the victory overall, we could try to be there – but only with the Rally2".
