Ott Tanak confirms that he will drive the Hyundai i20N Rally1 evo at Rally Saudi Arabia which will be his last event in World Rally Championship.
Tanak was among the title contenders for this year's WRC title, but his chances to clinch his second crown ended at Rally Japan. Hyundai made the decision to fit a new engine to Tanak's car before the start of Central European Rally which was the third engine for him in 2025. With the view of avoiding a time penalty, the Alzenau-based team announced that Tanak will not score points on the three remaining WRC rounds while he would be driving the 2024-spec car in Central Europe, Japan and Saudi Arabia. As mathematically he is not a title contender anymore, he will switch from the Monte-spec i20N Rally1 to the i20N Rally1 evo for Rally Saudi Arabia.
"We are going into the unknown with Rally Saudi Arabia, so we will have to go there and discover what the event has to offer", Tanak said.
"We will be back in the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 evo for the event, a car which has performed especially well on rough gravel.
"We don't know exactly what to expect from the rough gravel in Saudi Arabia, but the team has been strong in these sort of conditions in the past".
